Game preview

Carolina bounced back from their crushing defeat at San Francisco with a strong win over Tennessee last week, and they should be able to keep pace with Green Bay.

The Panthers officially placed quarterback Cam Newton on injured reserve this week, and it is now up to Kyle Allen to guide his team into the playoffs.

Allen has done his team proud so far, winning five of his six starts since stepping in for Newton, and with hot running back Christian McCaffrey alongside him has all the tools to push the Packers close.

McCaffrey had another huge game last week, putting up 166 total yards and three touchdowns, and has now found the end zone more times than any other player this season.

Despite having a 7-2 record, the Packers were well beaten by the Chargers last week and struggled to get anything going on offence.

Matt LeFleur’s side have blown hot and cold and that 26-11 defeat was the sixth consecutive time a team had scored at least 22 points against them.

While they do have the talent to move the chains as long as Aaron Rodgers is playing, their recent struggles on defence could open the door for Carolina to continue their push for the playoffs.
