Bears could claw out close game at Vikings

Minnesota and Chicago both looking to bolster playoff positions

It’s all to play for in Minneapolis as Chicago take on Minnesota and both teams are looking to win for very different reasons.

The Vikings know that victory over their NFC North rivals will guarantee them a wildcard place in the playoffs next week ahead of Philadelphia, while a Bears win could see them earn a first-round bye as the second seed if the Rams lose to the 49ers.

Minnesota enter the game as favourites after convincing wins over Miami and Detroit, but Chicago came out on top when these sides met in Illinois last month and pose a bigger threat than their price suggests.

Their record stands at 11-4 and a statement win against the Rams three weeks ago highlights the quality in this side, particularly on the defence.

They conceded just nine points against San Francisco last week and have allowed no more than ten points in five games this season.

The Bears defence will need to be on top form if they are to hold the Vikings to that sort of number, especially when coming up against the likes of Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook.

Playing in front of a lively home crowd could see Mike Zimmer’s side pull off a victory, but Chicago look great value on the handicap when you consider their record would be 14-1 if they were given such a start every week.
