You'd be mad to miss a bet on impressive Mikkelsen

Running first is a problem for champion Ogier

Rally Australia 4pm Thursday

Sebastien Ogier sealed his fifth consecutive World Rally Championship in Wales last time, leaving this week's Australian Rally something of a dead rubber.

Ogier's chances of ending the season with a third win of the year are hampered by running first on the road on day one, sweeping the stage clear of loose gravel for the following cars.

The last five events have seen five different drivers atop the podium and it's not outrageous to suggest a sixth is on the cards this weekend.

Andreas Mikkelsen ended Ogier's run of three straight Australian victories last season and he could go in again.

Mikkelsen began the season competing in WRC2 but was picked up by Citroen mid-season and has switched to Hyundai for the last two rallies.

The Norwegian led in Spain and finished an impressive fourth in Wales and his starting position down the order on the first day could give him enough of an advantage to win.
