Polish Grand Prix preview

Great Britain youngster Dan Bewley delighted the home crowd by topping the rostrum in Cardiff two weeks ago and he looks worthy of each-way support to repeat the trick in Wroclaw on Saturday.

A late call-up into the series following the suspension of Russian riders Artem Laguta and Emil Sayfutinov, the Cumbrian can be forgiven a tardy start to the campaign but his upturn in form has been mightily impressive.

Bewley has racked up 12-point hauls from the qualifying heats in the last three rounds - two more points than any other rider - and that consistency on the world stage was duly rewarded with a maiden Grand Prix victory a fortnight ago.

The result propelled the rapidly improving Brit into fourth in the championship standings, just a point behind fellow in-form rider Patryk Dudek.

A top-three finish looks a real possibility with four rounds remaining and he’ll be relishing the prospects of racing around Wroclaw’s iconic Olympic Stadium, a circuit he knows well having competed for the Polish city for the past three seasons.

Bartosz Zmarzlik is a three-time Grand Prix winner at this venue and should make the podium, although odds of 2-1 hardly appeal.

The consistent Leon Madsen will appreciate the return to a more sweeping circuit that provides greater overtaking opportunities, while Maciej Janowski is a sporting icon in Wroclaw and will be a big threat if on a going day.

Anders Thomsen is sidelined for the remainder of the season after breaking his leg in a crash last week, while there are fitness concerns over Tai Woffinden and Martin Vaculik.
