Marc Marquez is the undisputed king of COTA - the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, which hosts this weekend's third round of the MotoGP world championship.

Six times the track has staged the event and six times Marquez has won from pole position, taking the fastest lap of the race five times along the way.

So the 8-15 on offer for the Honda rider to qualify fastest again is understandable.

Marquez was edged out of top spot in second practice by Maverick Vinales on a strong day for Yamaha.

Vinales has a pole position and a second-place grid slot from the first two races of the year, so is a worthy second favourite.

The biggest threat to world champion Marquez extending his sequence could be the weather. Sporadic rain is expected throughout the day in Texas.

But whatever the weather, Jack Miller should be thereabouts and rates the each-way value to make the front row.

Ducati did not look good on Friday, but Miller's Pramac-run machine was just 0.148 seconds off the pace in the afternoon.

The Aussie has a fourth and a fifth in qualifying from the first two races and any rain would only help his chance of getting on to the front row.
