Alex Rins looks knocking value to clean up in Barcelona
BT Sport 2, 1pm Sunday
The Catalonia Grand Prix in Barcelona looks set to be a fascinating contest after rookie Fabio Quartararo secured his second pole position of the season.
The French rider, tipped at 5-2 to be the fastest qualifier by Racing Post Sport’s Adam Scriven, pipped Marc Marquez to pole by just 0.015 seconds.
Quartararo has made a sensational start to his top-level career but so far most of his best work has been done in qualifying and he has disappointed over a race distance, so it’s no surprise that he is 4-1 for a maiden victory despite starting at the front.
This is the fourth time he has qualified in the top five but he is yet to finish better than seventh in a race.
Marquez is unsurprisingly the bookies' choice but Alex Rins could also make his mark at the front.
He has been quick all weekend in his home city, topping the times in practice three, and he looked a real contender for pole only to crash in qualifying, which means he starts eighth. He has the pace to get involved at the front.
Recommendation
A Rins
