MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix: qualifying betting preview, free tip & TV details
Jack Miller value to shine again in the rain
TV: BT Sport 2, 1.10pm Saturday
Marc Marquez took pole position by a whopping 2.5 seconds in the Czech Republic last week, so the 4-6 for him to go fastest in qualifying in Austria might seem generous.
The Honda ace’s Brno heroics were the result of a textbook lap on slick tyres on a drying track and the forecast for the rest of this weekend is more rain.
The Red Bull Ring is firmly a Ducati circuit – the Italian manufacturer has won all three races since the track returned to the MotoGP calendar.
A wet track will lessen their advantage, which is largely down to power, but Marquez will have to be at his best to end Ducati’s run.
Jack Miller is racing for his career after news emerged this week that three-time world champion Jorge Lorenzo is eyeing up the Aussie’s seat at Pramac Ducati.
But Miller is a master in wet conditions and he could be given a platform to showcase his skills if contract talks don’t prove too much of a distraction.
Miller started second at Brno last week and was also on the front row in France and has had a couple of fifth-place starts in between.
The Townsville man looks decent each-way value with three places on offer.
Recommendation
J Miller fastest qualifier
