The sweeping curves of the Red Bull Ring, host to this weekend’s Austrian MotoGP, were always going to suit Ducati but it was surprising how much the big guns struggled in the practice sessions.
This is the circuit’s first appearance on the calendar for 19 years, and Honda dominated the two races at the track in the mid-90s.
Championship leader Marc Marquez set only the tenth fastest time in yesterday afternoon’s practice, while his Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa was down in 19th.
