Marquez expected to keep pole run going in Spanish GP qualifying
Hondas off to flying start at Jerez
Spanish GP qualifying
BT Sport 2, 1.10pm Saturday
Dani Pedrosa was an unlikely pacesetter on day one of the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
The Spanish veteran won at the track in 2013, but he has managed only three podiums in the last 12 months.
Yamaha recorded a one-two finish at Jerez last year when Valentino Rossi won from pole position.
Rossi leads the championship after three races, but that is largely due to the fact he is the only rider in the top seven in the standings to have finished all three races.
Marc Marquez gave Honda their first win of the year in Texas last time, and Honda riders from three different teams filled the first three places in Friday practice in Spain.
Marquez was not among them, but he did not use the softer tyres, which deliver better performance over a single lap.
The defending champion started the last two races from pole position and is worth a bet to do so again.
