Lewis Hamilton is 8-15 to retain his F1 world title after making it back-to-back wins with a lights-to-flag success in the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver had been an 8-13 chance to triumph in Barcelona for the third time in five years and was untroubled at the front as most of the drama happened behind the leading cars.

An early accident caused by Romain Grosjean spinning also wiped out Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly.

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel had got past the second Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas but was forced to make a second stop for tyres and dropped to fourth.

Hamilton leads Vettel by 17 points in the championship with Bottas third on 58 having moved ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, who was forced to retire from the race.

Vettel is out to 7-4 from 5-4 to win his first title at Ferrari this year.

The next race is on May 27 at the one-off track in Monaco, where bet365 make Vettel the 13-8 favourite, with Hamilton 15-8 and the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, which could be suited to the twisty circuit, both 11-2.

Standings
1 L Hamilton 95, 2 S Vettel 78.3 V Bottas 58, 4 K Raikkonen 48.
