Grand Prix at Road America betting preview, news and tips
Josef Newgarden could secure repeat success
Sky Sports F1, 5.40pm Sunday
Rookie Colton Herta caught the eye yet again to grab his first career IndyCar pole for the Rev Group Grand Prix at Road America.
The teenage sensation, who already has a victory after triumphing in his second career race at Austin, is 7-2 second favourite to 3-1 shot Alexander Rossi, who is alongside him on the grid in second place.
Both drivers were extremely fast in qualifying but appeared to be right on the edge. Herta topped the times in all three of his qualifying sessions, while Rossi was fastest of all in practice two and second to Herta in second qualifying.
It's a long race, though, and last year's winner Josef Newgarden, should not be counted out from fourth on the grid.
The championship leader after winning his third race of the season in Texas last time out, Newgarden has been consistent all week. The American was fifth in first practice, third in second practice and fastest of all in third practice.
He was third in the second qualifying session and should be in a good spot to capitalise on any errors from the front two.
Two bigger-priced drivers with the potential to improve after missing out on the top 12 in qualifying are Ryan Hunter-Reay (15th), who topped first practice and was fourth in practice three, and rookie Felix Rosenqvist (18th).
Scott Dixon starts 12th after a mechanical issue stopped him recording a time in second qualifying.
Leading grid positions: 1 C Herta, 2 A Rossi, 3 W Power, 4 J Newgarden, 5 G Rahal, 6 T Sato.
Leading standings: 1 J Newgarden 367, 2 A Rossi 342, 3 S Pagenaud 319, 4 S Dixon 278, 5 T Sato 272, 6 W Power 254.
Recommendation
