Ferrari reversed their performance deficit to Mercedes between the first two races of the 2019 F1 season, but the Silver Arrows still managed to record a second one-two finish of the season in Bahrain last time.

Charles Leclerc was robbed of victory in the desert by a malfunctioning engine while Sebastian Vettel spun out of contention while battling Lewis Hamilton, but Ferrari will be hopeful of bouncing back in China this weekend.

This year's form has broadly followed last season, with Mercedes having a performance advantage in Australia before Ferrari took the upper hand in Bahrain.

In 2018, the Scuderia kept it up in Shanghai by locking out the front row in qualifying, so if the pattern continues they could be in good shape to break their duck for the season.

Unusually for this stage in the season, Ferrari showed their hand early in Bahrain, with Leclerc and Vettel the best part of a second ahead of the Mercedes in first practice.

Vettel is favourite to set the fastest lap in the opening session but Leclerc heads the race betting and could be worth backing to bounce back from his Bahrain disappointment.
