We've reached the medal games of the 2022 Winter Olympic women's ice hockey tournament and to no-one's surprise USA and Canada will battle for gold in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Punters who took the advice of colleague Rob Eddy to back the Canadian women before the semi-finals are in a good position as they again put up a double-digit score to batter Switzerland 10-3 and they look worthy favourites against their only real rivals.

At a much more sociable hour for viewers from the UK and Ireland (11.30am), Finland and the Swiss contest the bronze medal game. This is the sixth time in seven Olympics that the Finns have reached this stage and they are heavy favourites to claim the medal, but Switzerland shouldn't be dismissed lightly.

They beat Finland 3-2 in the group stage and gained a deserved 4-2 win over Russia in the quarter-finals.

The veteran Canadian men's team looked flattered by a 7-2 win over the host nation in the playoff round and they could be up against it when they face Sweden in the quarter-finals.

The Swedes will be fired up after blowing a 3-0 lead in the third period during an overtime loss to arch-rivals Finland in their last game and look worth backing to win inside regulation time.
