Love Island Daily: show fallout, market moves and betting odds
All the latest talking points from the villa
What is happening?
As one romance comes to an end, another is just beginning.
Joanna Chimonides was voted out of Love Island on Monday’s show, leaving behind a frazzled Michael Griffiths, who she labelled a “snake” for not departing the show with her.
The firefighter left viewers scratching their heads when he later told former partner Amber to “sit down” and poured cold water on anything happening between them, declaring that he still wanted to be with Joanna.
So why stay in the villa?
If that wasn’t enough for everyone to get their heads around, Curtis Pritchard confirmed he wanted to pursue things with Maura Higgins, meanwhile friendzoning his existing couple partner Francesca Allen.
Betting moves
Curtis and Maura marked the occasion with a passionate kiss which saw their outright price reduced. They have been crucial components in the show’s narrative and are now as short as 4-1 to win the £50,000 and 11-8 favourites in the without Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague market.
Tommy and Molly themselves have been on the drift and are out to 1-3 from 1-5.
Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan, the couple Curtis and Maura usurped as favourites to be best of the rest, are 10-1 overall and 11-4 to finish second after resolving their differences in Monday’s episode.
What might happen next?
Michael could not have been any clearer about his lack of interest in Amber but bookmakers are not buying it, with some firms still rating the pair 10-1. With such little time left, that price looks too short.
Monday’s episode concluded with brief footage of three new islanders entering the villa.
Estate agent Harley Brash, 20, is reportedly set to battle it out with fellow new girl India Reynolds, 28, for Ovie Soko’s affection.
The basketball player has been a fans' favourite and, with girls now interested in getting to know him, he could be a worthwhile punt at 9-1 to be top male.
Curtis and Maura’s situation is set to be put through an early examination with another new islander, Irish rugby player Greg O’Shea, expecting to “hit it off” with his female compatriot.
