2pts each-way 9-1 general

Story so far

Four outsiders are tied for the lead through three rounds of the Texas Open. Brandt Snedeker, who was 250-1 ante-post, is one of a quartet who have reached ten under par after 54 holes at TPC San Antonio.

Beau Hossler (140-1), Dylan Frittelli (90-1) and JJ Spaun (175-1) are alongside Snedeker, setting the pace in the final event before the Masters. All are yet to qualify for the Masters, but victory in the Lone Star State will earn them a ticket to Augusta.

Fifteen players are within three shots of the lead, so a wide-open Sunday shootout is on the cards in hot, sunny, breezy San Antonio.

Final-round preview

The Texas Open is wide-open with 18 holes to play. Given the wind is set to pick up as the day goes on, there is every chance somebody shoots from deep on the leaderboard to set a competitive clubhouse mark.

Of the leaders through three rounds, Dylan Frittelli and Beau Hossler appeal most, and a press-up on Frittelli is advised at 9-2. The South African was recommended yesterday morning at 9-1 each-way (getting five places), so a win-only addition seems worthwhile given he has moved into a share of the lead.

Frittelli, who won the 2019 John Deere Classic, attended the University of Texas and lives in the Lone Star State. Two European Tour wins were followed by that JDC breakthrough and a bogey-free Friday 66 at TPC San Antonio was followed by a solid Saturday 70 in which he dropped only one shot.

The main threat to Frittelli may be Hossler, a former Korn Ferry Tour star who has shown flashes of his brilliance on the PGA Tour this season. Hossler also graduated from the University of Texas and lives in the state. He lost a playoff in Texas for the 2018 Houston Open, and should go close to a Tour breakthrough tonight.

The best way to support Hossler may be in the top American market. Frittelli can be backed at 9-2 for victory and the same price is on offer about Hossler for top Yank.

The final threeball of Frittelli, Brandt Snedeker and Hossler is scheduled on the tee at 5.55pm UK and Ireland time.
