Steve Palmer's players to follow on the DP World Tour in 2022

Trio of Challenge Tour graduates can threaten silverware on the main circuit

Racing Post Sport's golf tipping guru Steve Palmer picks three golfers to watch out for on the DP World Tour in 2022.

Chase Hanna

Three Challenge Tour graduates with a DP World Tour card firmly in their pocket and guaranteed Tour starts are worth looking out for in 2022, starting with Chase Hanna.

The Kansas-born 27-year-old is from a sporting family - his father was a marathon runner and his sister is a tennis player - and Hanna clearly possesses a competitive spirit.

Chase the ace cut his teeth on the South American circuit in 2018, then had to wait until last year to properly establish himself on the Challenge Tour. Five CT top-tens from May through July injected Hanna with confidence, followed by back-to-back sixth-place finishes on the European Tour at the Cazoo Open and Hero Open.

A victory at a fancy price would come as no surprise in the year to come.

Julien Brun

Punters may opt to put a Brun in the oven for 2022 and back the resurgent Frenchman every time he tees up this season. A former amateur star in Texas, Brun won on the Challenge Tour in 2012 when still in the unpaid ranks - yet did not turn professional until 2015.

The man from the French Riviera won on the Alps Tour in 2017, then spent a few years in the doldrums before bouncing back into life in 2020, with two victories on the Pro Golf Tour.

Last year, Brun triumphed twice on the Challenge Tour, almost claiming another title in a playoff loss for the Czech Challenge in June.

Prague-based Brun tied for second in the Challenge Tour Grand Final in November and the 29-year-old appears more confident than ever, ready to fulfil his early potential and become one of his country's best players.

Yannik Paul

A 27-year-old Frankfurt man may also be worth following in low-grade DP World Tour action this season - Yannik Paul appears to have come of age and looks ready to make an impact.

Paul, who went to college in Colorado and is based in Arizona, spent 2018 and 2019 on the Canadian Tour before switching his attention to the Challenge Tour last season. A busy and successful 2021 campaign has resulted in a life-changing DP World Tour card.

Paul posted ten top-15 finishes during a rock-solid Challenge Tour term, culminating in a tie for second alongside Brun in the Grand Final, and the Joburg Open suggested the German will make a seamless transition to the DP World Tour.

Rounds of 68 and 70 meant a share of eighth place in the Joburg Open - his first DP World (European Tour) event outside his homeland.
