Preview

Ross McGowan closed with an eagle and a birdie to post a nine-under-par first-round 62 and lead after day one of the Made In HimmerLand in Denmark.

McGowan, an ante-post 400-1 rag, went bogey-free along the fairways of HimmerLand, knocking a gang of 63-shooters into second place. Local hero Rasmus Hojgaard was among those tied for second place after 18 holes, with his compatriot Marcus Helligkilde on the same score.

Pre-tournament favourite, Matt Wallace, carded a five-under-par 66, and the Englishman will look to build on that effort from a 12.20pm Friday starting berth. A sunny afternoon, with light to moderate breeze, is forecast.

Romain Langasque found his A-game coming home in round one and the Frenchman looks the pick of the second-round afternoon threeball prices against Chris Wood and Marcel Schneider.

Langasque made a disappointingly slow start at a track where he finished third in the 2019 Made In Denmark, but covered his final six holes in five under par. Having walked off the course on Thursday bursting with self-belief, there is every reason to believe this moody character will produce a positive round on Friday.

Wood has slipped to 1,243 in the world rankings and his career has been hanging by a thread. He has made only two cuts this year and even after a decent start in Denmark, there is every chance the lanky Bristolian endures another weekend off. Schneider is also struggling to make the cut after a ragged round of 71.

Punters seeking a double can put Langasque with Wallace, who has found some form and confidence, having followed tenth place in the Rocket Mortgage Classic with the runner-up cheque in Switzerland last Sunday.

Wallace, the 2018 Made In Denmark champion, left Shubhankar Sharma and Maverick Antcliff behind in round one, and can repeat the dose on Friday afternoon.
