Patrick Reed to win LIV Golf Bangkok

Story so far

Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra will take a five-shot lead into the final round of LIV Golf Bangkok at Stonehill Golf Club, the Spaniard becoming a 4-7 chance for a first title.

The Spanish Open is taking place in Chacarra's home city of Madrid this week, but the 22-year-old has his eyes set firmly on the $4m first prize awaiting the LIV Golf Bangkok champion.

Chacarra, a former world number two amateur who attended Oklahoma State, was freely available at 200-1 ante-post for Bangkok glory.

Final-round preview

Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra is clearly a youngster going places - an aggressive, swashbuckling Madrileno with a free-flowing swing. He has butchered Stonehill GC with his ball-striking over the last two days and 16 under par for 36 holes on a 7,591-yard track is sensational.

The question for punters looking to invest at this stage is: Will the situation and prize money have an effect over the final 18 holes?

The five-shot buffer combined with Sunday pressure may see Chacarra slip into a more defensive mode for the final round, which means the 4-7 quotes against his name can be resisted. This is a great talent who is obviously the most likely winner, but preference for Sunday is to take one of his pursuers at a more sporting price.

Patrick Reed stands out as the man who could play the party-pooper role and catch Chacarra. The 2018 Masters champion has moved into a share of second place and will be relishing the opportunity to threaten his first LIV title.

There is a likeness between Augusta and Stonehill - both are in pristine condition, have long, rolling terrain and large, undulating greens - and Reed may be about to follow a Green Jacket at Augusta with a LIV breakthrough at Stonehill. He is regular visitor to Asia and has quickly adapted to conditions in Thailand.

BoyleSports are offering 8-1 Reed with each-way terms of a third the odds, the first two, which seems a more than fair package - the best price and the best each-way terms. The action resumes at 3.15am UK and Ireland time Sunday morning.
