The Evian Championship has been an LPGA Major since 2013, staged in the beautiful spa town of Evian-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva, and it was the tournament which turned Minjee Lee into a superstar.

Lee, much like her mild-mannered brother Min Woo, glided through the early years of her professional career without getting into serious contention for the biggest events on the calendar. Suddenly, though, the Perth-born starlet fired a Sunday 64 in last year's Evian to propel herself into a playoff.

A birdie at the first extra hole meant Evian glory for Lee and she has not looked back since. A seventh LPGA victory came in May, then she won the US Open last month in grand style, romping to a four-shot triumph.

Lee walks with a new-found confidence at the age of 26 and she followed up her US Open success with second spot in the Women's PGA Championship. She is the hottest female golfer on the planet and it is a brave punter who bets against her stoutly defending her Evian title over the next four days.

Nelly Korda is still trying to find top gear after injury issues, while Jin-Young Ko flopped to 30th place in the Women's PGA and appears to have lost some of the aura which made her such a feared player on the circuit for so long.

Leona Maguire, who closed with a 61 for sixth place in last year's Evian, was a tempting 45-1 chance for this one. The Irish lady, though, lost her clubs in transit to France. She has been reunited with her clubs in time for the tournament, but the hampered preparation means it is probably sensible to stick with just an each-way investment on Lee.
