Story so far

Ante-post 300-1 chance Kristoffer Broberg, world number 772, leads the Dutch Open by eight shots going into the final round at Bernardus Golf, Netherlands.

Broberg took a one-shot lead into round three, but extended that advantage in grand style with ten birdies and an eagle. The Swede is no bigger than 1-7 with 18 holes to play.

Broberg won four times on the Challenge Tour in 2012, then the 2015 BMW Masters on the European Tour, before injury hampered progress. A trip to the opticians last month has helped with his eyesight and the 35-year-old has enjoyed improved putting this week.

Final-round preview

Aside from a respectable share of 12th place in his homeland in June for the Scandinavian Mixed, Kristoffer Broberg provided no warning for punters that he was about to destroy Bernardus Golf in the Dutch Open.

Injury had essentially ruined a promising career for Broberg, but he stands on the brink of Dutch Open glory and the chance to move on to bigger and better things in his late-30s.

The margin he has built over the first three days of the Dutch Open is probably too great for him to be toppled. The Bernardus is an easy track and a sunny, calm day is forecast. It is difficult to imagine the leader failing to make a few birdies on Sunday, meaning his pursuers need serious fireworks to trouble him.

Johannes Veerman, tied for eighth spot, can hopefully get some place money for Racing Post Sport followers to salvage something from the ante-post staking plan, but punters getting involved at this stage are left with the 'without Broberg' market.

Richard Mansell, bogey-free on the back-nine in round three and possessing the firepower off the tee to card something in the low-60s on Sunday, may be the best value option in the 'without Broberg' market.

Veerman, swinging beautifully for months on the European Tour, can boss the 11.03am threeball against Niall Kearney and Darius van Driel.

Broberg, Marcus Helligkilde and Matthias Schmid comprise the final threeball, scheduled on the tee at 11.25am.
