Preview
The US Women's Open rolled into Monday because of bad weather and the LPGA stars are straight back into action on Thursday for their season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, which starts at Tiburon Golf Club, Naples, Florida at 1pm UK and Ireland time.
PGA Tour stars competed at Tiburon last week in the QBE Shootout, in which scoring was extremely low, and the CME GTC set-up will be a huge contrast to the challenging Champions Club layout which faced the LPGA competitors for the US Open.
There are 72 players going to post along a par-72 of 6,556 yards, with $1.1m going to the winner of the 72-hole, no-cut shootout. There have been six previous CME GTC at Tiburon and it is the woman who won last year's event who appeals most for this one.
Sei Young Kim carded an 18-under-par total to triumph by a shot 12 months ago - a birdie putt from 25 feet on the final green the decisive blow - and her career has progressed further since. The 27-year-old won her first Major title in October - a sensational Sunday 63 resulting in Women's PGA Championship glory by a five-shot margin.
Kim has already amassed almost $10m in career earnings on the LPGA circuit, so the juicy first prize this week will not daunt her, and her last visit to Florida resulted in silverware. The Pelican Women's Championship, staged a month ago in Tampa Bay, saw Kim cruise to a three-shot success.
The US Open did not go to plan for the Korean - she appeared to lose interest when her winning chance had disappeared over the weekend and ended up in 20th spot - but there is every reason to believe the defending CME GTC will be back among the birdies at Tiburon.
Live coverage starts on Sky Sports Golf at 6pm. A sunny week with light to moderate breezes is forecast, but there is a small thunderstorm threat for Sunday.
Kim is the stand-out option, but punters looking for another string to their bow should consider Charley Hull, who won this tournament in 2016 before finishing runner-up last year.
