Story so far

The final round of the BMW PGA Championship got started at 7.05am in chilly, calm conditions, with Ian Poulter and Callum Shinkwin the first match out.

The final twoball of Viktor Hovland and Soren Kjeldsen is scheduled on the tee at 1.10pm. Former champions Rory McIlroy and Francesco Molinari get going at 12.50pm.

Final-round twoballs preview

There was much speculation as to how Rory McIlroy would react if paired with a LIV Golf player over the weekend, but the PGA Tour loyalist has got old Ryder Cup buddy Francesco Molinari alongside him instead, so the world number three will not suffer any Sunday distractions.

There are some strong favourites in the final few twoballs - McIlroy to beat Molinari, Viktor Hovland to beat Soren Kjeldsen, and Shane Lowry to beat Matthew Jordan (12.40pm).

That treble pays almost 11-4 with Coral and Ladbrokes - a perfectly acceptable final-round investment - but punters seeking bigger twoballs odds are pointed towards James Morrison (12.20pm).

Morrison is a Surrey man who lives in Weybridge and knows Wentworth well. In the 2012 BMW PGA Championship, he carded a second-round 64 on his way to tenth place. After a bright warm-up in Denmark last week, the two-time DP World Tour champion seems worth backing as the outsider against Fabrizio Zanotti.

This duo find fairways for fun - so the contest is unlikely to be won from the tee - but Morrison's superior course knowledge gives him an edge and the odds appear generous. A cloudly but pleasantly warm, calm afternoon is forecast.
