Scottish Open on the agenda of the elite once competition ends in Ireland

A star-studded field will gather at the Renaissance Club on Thursday for the Scottish Open - the final DP World Tour event before the Open Championship.

Almost all of the world's elite are competing in the JP McManus Pro-Am in Ireland over Monday and Tuesday of this week, then most will make the journey to Scotland for a Rolex Series gathering boasting an $8m prize fund.

Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas are among 14 of the world's top 15 players teeing up at the Renaissance. Rory McIlroy is the only one preferring alternative Open preparation.

There are two others tournaments for punters to consider this week in addition to the Scottish Open - the Barbasol Championship and the Senior Players Championship. The Barbasol in Kentucky has become a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, so Stateside golf fans will see some unfamiliar names from the European circuit suddenly arriving on the PGA Tour.

The Senior Players Championship takes place at Firestone, Akron, Ohio. Steve Stricker will be the defending champion.

JT Poston was the 45-1 winner of the John Deere Classic on Sunday night. Adrian Meronk was the 35-1 winner of the Irish Open earlier in the day.
