Scottie Scheffler has become the number one player in the world after winning the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play on Sunday night.

Scheffler, who won the Phoenix Open in February and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, defeated Kevin Kisner in the Match Play final to complete a PGA Tour hat-trick.

Scheffler, tipped by Racing Post Sport's Ian Wilkerson at 16-1 for the Match Play, finished runner-up in the tournament last year. In that event, he lost to Billy Horschel in the final, but Horschel was one of Scheffler's victims last week as he landed home-state glory.

Jon Rahm, who was beaten by Brooks Koepka at the last-16 stage of the Match Play, has dropped to second in the world rankings. The first Major of the year - the Masters - starts a week on Thursday. Scheffler, 19th and 18th in his two previous Masters starts, is a 16-1 chance to claim the Green Jacket at Augusta a week on Sunday.

The Texas Open, which starts on Thursday, is the final PGA Tour event before the Masters. Bryson DeChambeau, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth are among those using the Texas Open as a Masters warm-up.

There is no DP World Tour event this week, but punters do have an LPGA Major to consider. The Chevron Championship starts in California on Thursday.

Ewen Ferguson was the 200-1 winner of the Qatar Masters on Sunday, while Chad Ramey was the 55-1 winner of the Corales Puntacana Championship.
