Story so far
As we head into the final group-stage matches, several big names are already unable to qualify for the knockout stages, including Patrick Reed, Patrick Cantlay and Tony Finau.
World number one Jon Rahm has looked impressive so far and secured his second win on Thursday, with a 5&4 success over Cameron Young leaving him top of Group One.
Dustin Johnson is another who looks comfortable on the Texas fairways and the two-time Major winner is two from two after a 4&2 win over Matthew Wolff.
Defending champion Billy Horschel is another clutching a 100 per cent record after his first two matches, topping Group 12, while Tyrrell Hatton has also claimed two wins after a 1 up win over Si Woo Kim.
The surprise package of the week so far has been Irishman Seamus Power, who tops Group Four after back-to-back wins over Sungjae Im and Cantlay.
Matt Fitzpatrick, Kevin Kisner, Viktor Hovland, Lucas Herbert, Corey Conners, Alex Noren and Brooks Koepka have also collected two wins from two matches.
Day Three preview
One of the key match-ups of day three comes in Group Five when Fitzpatrick and Scheffler go head-to-head (2:42pm UK Time).
After beating Ian Poulter in his first match, last year’s runner-up Scheffler looked on course for the knockout stages only to run into an in-form Tommy Fleetwood.
The American did little wrong, with Fleetwood four under par during his 2&1 victory, but this is now a must-win game for the man from New Jersey.
Scheffler showed how good he can be in this format both here last year and at the Ryder Cup and he should prove too strong for the Englishman, who is looking to make the last-16 for the first time at the sixth attempt.
Not surprisingly, when you consider all four players are Major winners, Group 11 is finely poised going into the final round of matches.
Justin Rose, a former quarter-finalist in Texas, needs to collect a win over Keegan Bradley to give himself a chance of making the knockout stages.
The 2013 US Open champion faces a player in Bradley who seems to be at odds with his putting game and was fortunate to claim a half against Adam Scott on Thursday, having been three down with just four hole to play.
