Joohyung Kim became the second youngest PGA Tour winner since the Second World War at the Wyndham Championship last week, but his efforts in the first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs could be eclipsed by stalwart Billy Horschel at TPC Southwind.

Kim stormed to a five-shot victory as a red-hot putter helped him card a closing 61, but as five of the last seven winners at the Memphis venue have topped the strokes-gained tee-to-green charts, the 20-year-old from Seoul will have to improve markedly in that sphere.

Third at the Scottish Open and seventh at the Rocket Mortgage Classic have been eye-catching results, but Horschel is the sort of dogged competitor that can flourish at this stage of the campaign.

He did just that when he trousered a massive cheque in 2014 and, as he sits 18th in the rankings, this is a good opportunity for the Floridian to kick on at a course where he finished 9-25-17 in the three WGC events held there from 2019 to 2021.

One player who has less happy memories of those tournaments is Max Homa, who failed to finish in the top 50 in any of them.

The Tennessee track may just not be to the Wells Fargo champion's liking and he looks worth opposing in a 72-hole matchbet with Russell Henley.

Three-time PGA Tour winner Henley could be seen at his best this week as he ranks in the top 15 in both strokes-gained tee-to-green and in greens hit in regulation, which have historically been key to Southwind success.

The Georgian also brings good recent form as he followed a tenth spot at the Rocket Mortgage with fifth at the Wyndham last week.
