Preview

Winds at the Port Royal Golf Club were not as strong on the second day of the Bermuda Championship as Taylor Pendrith hit a ten-under-par 61 to lead the tournament at the half-way stage.

Patrick Rodgers is a further shot behind after following his opening 68 with a 64 and with the breezes off the Atlantic not expected to reach Thursday's levels, the third day could again feature plenty of low scores.

The leaders will start getting back into action at around 4pm UK and Ireland time and there are a couple of threeball bets that appeal among the chasing group.

England's David Skinns is an interesting proposition in the 4.15pm group alongside Danny Lee and Peter Malnati.

The 39-year-old from Lincoln, who went to college in Tennessee, has climbed more than 500 places in the world rankings this year and while he finished 69th at the Fortinet Championship and missed the cut at the Sanderson Farms Championship recently, there have been signs of life on the Korn Ferry Tour.

His performances on the secondary tour have been excellent as he claimed four top-ten finishes in five outings towards the end of the summer, climaxing in a win at the Pinnacle Bank Championship.

Two solid rounds of 67 suggest he is in fine fettle and he can push on from three shots off the pace.

His playing partners find themselves on the same score but there are reservations concerning how much they may progress over the weekend.

Lee has fallen 180 places in the rankings this year and has posted just one top-20 finish in his last 28 tournaments, while Malnati, who was 21st in Bermuda last year, has missed 15 of his last 23 cuts and was fourth from bottom in 74th at the Zozo Championship last week.

Australia's Lucas Herbert is one of the highest-ranked players at this week's low-profile contest and he looks to be justifying his standing despite a rocky few weeks.

He missed the cut at the Fortinet and the Sanderson Farms and also disappointed in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

However, it was not long ago that he won the Irish Open and was fourth in the Scottish Open so it is realistic to expect that the wind would not trouble him if it did show some muscle during the third day.

He should come out on top of the 4.03pm threeball with Justin Lower, who is a bit of a nearly-man on the Korn Ferry, and Patrick Flavin, who has had a couple of nice recent results on the Canadian Tour, but even this low-grade event is a step up from those.
