Kevin Na won his fifth PGA Tour title in the early hours of Monday morning, the Californian grinder reaching 21 under par to triumph by a shot in the Sony Open.

Na, 60-1 ante-post for Waialae Country Club glory, birdied the par-five 18th hole to pip Chris Kirk and Joaquin Niemann. Pre-tournament 12-1 favourite, Webb Simpson, took a share of fourth place alongside third-round pacesetter Brendan Steele.

Na, who has won in each of the last four seasons, is in the field for The American Express, the event which starts at the PGA West Stadium Course, La Quinta, on Thursday. Na was born in South Korea, but his family relocated to California when he was eight.

Among the other notable entrants for The American Express are Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Cantlay, Patrick Reed and Paul Casey.
European Tour action resumes this week with the Abu Dhabi Championship, where Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Tyrrell Hatton, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood tee up.

Race to Dubai champion Lee Westwood is also among the runners for the high-class Rolex Series gathering at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, United Arab Emirates.
