Matthew Wolff won the 3M Open with a spectacular closing eagle at TPC Twin Cities, the US Tour newcomer showcasing his talent in awesome fashion, and the future looks extremely bright for the cocksure youngster.

Wolff, making just his fourth US Tour start, was 175-1 ante-post, but a 15-under-par weekend burst rocketed him to the top of the leaderboard in Minnesota. Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa tied for second place.

Wolff is the youngest winner on the US Tour since Jordan Spieth in 2013 and the 20-year-old sensation is scheduled to play in the John Deere Classic this week. William Hill make him an early 33-1 chance.

Jon Rahm, a comfortable winning favourite in the Irish Open, is no bigger than 16-1 for the Open, which starts at Royal Portrush a week on Thursday.

The European Tour has moved north for the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club, North Berwick, where Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas headline the field.

From this week, Racing Post Sport's golf previews will be available from 1pm on Tuesday (European events) and 5pm on Tuesday (US Tour events)
