Bryson DeChambeau looks ready to contend at Harbour Town for a third time

The Heritage is after the Lord Mayor's Show – and commentators are bound to make Tiger Woods and the Masters their main point of discussion early in the week – but some world-class players have made the trip south to the Harbour Town Links.

Francesco Molinari, who led the Masters after 65 holes before hitting his tee-shot into water at the 12th on Sunday, joins Webb Simpson and Jordan Spieth for a fascinating 1.10pm Heritage threeball.

And world number one, Dustin Johnson, also returns immediately to action after finishing tied for second at Augusta, with Xander Schauffele and Kevin Kisner for company.

Simpson and Kisner are the value options for punters wishing to invest on the marquee matches, but a safer first-round threeball wager is Bryson DeChambeau, who has got his tail up after enjoying the first hole-in-one of his career in the final round of the Masters.

DeChambeau can boss the 5.40pm threeball at a Heritage venue he relishes. He finished fourth at Harbour Town on his debut in 2016 and third last year.

And since his last visit, he has won four times on the US Tour and once on the European Tour, and his only missed cut in a regulation tournament has come from a shoulder injury forcing a withdrawal in the John Deere Classic.

DeChambeau looks a solid option against Matt Kuchar, who may be feeling the pace of his schedule having gone to the final of the WGC-Match Play before seventh place in the Texas Open and 12th in the Masters.

Kuchar, sponsored by RBC and obliged to tee up in the RBC Heritage, may be short of a gallop in round one, while Satoshi Kodaira has been generally dire since his shock Harbour Town triumph 12 months ago.

DeChambeau also looks the pick of the tournament match-bet prices as an 11-10 outsider against Molinari, who seems likely to find it difficult to get his head together so soon after his back-nine Masters implosion.

And another Heritage wager to consider is Matthew Fitzpatrick to finish the week as top European. Fitzpatrick, who closed with a 67 for 14th spot last year, loves the challenge of Harbour Town and has arrived in sparkling form.

He was 11 under par for the final three rounds of the Masters, matching the scoring of Woods from Friday through Sunday, and should contend if carrying that game to South Carolina.
