There has been a change to the schedule for the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with poor weather threatening Scotland on Friday afternoon.

Competitors in the DP World Tour event will take part in a shotgun start at 8.30am - some players will start ten minutes afterwards - on the three courses in play this week, the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

This may leave some discombobulated as the pro-am moves towards the halfway stage, but one player who should be completely at ease is Padraig Harrington.

He will tee off on the fifth tee at Kingsbarns after carding an opening 69 at Carnoustie on Thursday and there are plenty of pointers that suggest that, once again, he should be able to get the better of Joachim B Hansen.

Harrington, twice a winner of the Open Championship, has an excellent relationship with this tournament, having won it in 2002 and 2006, and he has claimed seven top-ten finishes in 20 appearances.

Some of these achievements may sound like ancient history, but the popular Irishman has been in fine form on the Champions Tour in the USA, following a victory in the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in August with another success in the Ascension Charity Classic earlier this month.

His form figures read 3-14-1-4-1-11 and he was also second behind Darren Clarke at the Senior Open, so he is going through a purple patch.

Hansen could struggle to keep up with him, just as he did on Thursday when he carded a one-under-par 71.

The Dane finished 55th in this tournament in 2013 and has missed the cut, which takes place after three rounds have been completed, on each of his four subsequent finishes.

He was 13th at the Open de France last week, but apart from his 14th at the European Masters, there has been little to smile about recently.

Hansen has missed eight cuts in his last 11 tournaments, so it may be best not to expect too much on Friday.
