2020 Masters golf betting round-up: Johnson claims first Green Jacket

Betting reaction to Dustin Johnson's victory at the 2020 Masters and odds for the 2021 tournament at Augusta National.

Dustin Johnson is 8-1 to make a successful defence of his Masters title in April after he claimed his first Green Jacket with a five-shot victory at Augusta National on Sunday.

The world number one kept the chasing pack at arm's length throughout the final round and is favourite for next year's event, which is scheduled to return to his traditional April slot.

It was Johnson's second Major triumph following his victory at the 2016 US Open and his 20-under-par total of 268 broke the 72-hole course record of Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth by two shots.

Australian Cameron Smith and South Korean debutant Sungjae Im were his closest challengers, while Justin Thomas was fourth and Rory McIlroy fifth alongside South African Dylan Frittelli, nine shots behind the winner.

Smith became the first player in Masters history to record four sub-70 rounds in the same year, while McIlroy was unable to complete his career Grand Slam after paying the price for an opening 75.

The Northern Irishman is 10-1 to grab a Green Jacket in April to join the illustrious list of Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to have won all four Majors.

Defending champion Woods was tied for 38th despite finishing with birdies on five of the final six holes. He recorded a ten on the par-three 12th hole where he found the water three times. He is 45-1 to equal Nicklaus's record of six Augusta triumphs next year.
