Match preview

Despite the presence of two of the world's most iconic strikers in Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, goals could be at a premium in Tuesday's World Cup playoff clash between Poland and Sweden.

With a place in the Qatar World Cup up for grabs, it is sure to be a cagey affair between two established footballing nations so backing a 90-minute draw in Chorzow could be the way to go.

Poland received a bye to the Path B final following Russia's suspension but warmed up for the qualifying decider with a 1-1 draw away to Scotland.

And Sweden also go into the match fresh from a stalemate having played out a goalless draw with Czech Republic in last week's semi-final before Robin Quaison's extra-time strike settled matters.

The stakes are only going to be even higher in Poland on Tuesday night and it is difficult to split the two sides.

Sweden were 3-2 victors when these nations met in the group stage at Euro 2020 last year but only thanks to a 94th-minute winner from Viktor Claesson in what was a fairly even contest.

All four of Sweden's matches at the European Championship were close affairs, featuring a total of grand total of nine goals - five scored and four conceded.

The Swedes have developed a reputation for being tough to break down under Janne Andersson's stewardship and they are unlikely to stray from that approach in such a pivotal match.

With that in mind, extra-time could be needed to decide who books their ticket to Qatar.

Key stat

Each of Sweden's last four matches have featured under 2.5 goals.
