Match preview

The Women’s League Cup takes centre stage this weekend as the group stages of the tournament begin.

Teams who qualified for the Champions League are given a bye to the quarter-finals so this is a chance for some of the less dominant WSL sides to take the limelight.

Manchester United visit Aston Villa in a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday and the away team are fancied for a comfortable victory.

Marc Skinner’s side have already picked up two easy wins in the league this season, beating West Ham 2-0 following a 4-0 success against Reading.

Villa did manage to hold their opponents to a 0-0 draw in the last meeting between these two teams but before that the Red Devils dominated the head-to-heads, with four wins to nil in a row and 15 goals scored in the process.

United led at half-time in all four of those games and can repeat the feat.

The highlight of tomorrow’s slate of games sees Reading host Tottenham.
