Match previews

A lot has changed since Croatia made the final of the World Cup two years ago and it is difficult to side with Zlatko Dalic's men going into their international friendly with Turkey this week.

Croatia have lost three of their four matches in the Nations League, having looked particularly feeble in heavy defeats to Portugal (4-1) and France (4-2).

They have shipped a total 11 goals in their four group assignments and they will not be helped at the other end by the absence of Hoffenheim marksman Andrej Kramaric, who has withdrawn from the squad.

Turkey, meanwhile, are expected to field a strong side with Ozan Kabak, Merih Demiral and Caglar Soyuncu likely to feature along with Leicester City winger Cengiz Under.

Turkey breached Germany three times, got on the scoresheet twice against Serbia and should have enough to earn a statement win in this friendly.

Ukraine are another team with a point to prove and will be hoping to build on their win over Spain when they take on their co-hosts from the 2012 European Championships Poland.

Ukraine beat Spain 1-0 last time out but they saw 28 per cent possession on that occasion and lost the shot count 21-2, suggesting they still have not addressed their ongoing problems at the back.

The 7-1 defeat to France should be taken with a pinch of salt given Ukraine's coronavirus-induced absences but they have also looked shaky away to Spain and at home to Germany.

Poland and Robert Lewandowski showed what they can do to vulnerable defences in 3-0 and 5-1 wins over Bosnia and Finland in recent matches and they look worth a bet to prevail in Chorzow.
