Manchester City and Liverpool start their 2021-22 Champions League campaigns and it ought to be a routine evening for the pair of English heavyweights.

City are at home to out-of-sorts Bundesliga boys Leipzig while Liverpool play host to Serie A side Milan.

There are six more ties taking place in Europe's elite competition, and Real Madrid's trip to Inter is the pick of the remainder.

It is also a busy evening in the Championship, where there are six fixtures, including Birmingham at home to Fulham.

Today's best accumulator bets

Bets to be placed by 7.45pm

Stoke to beat Barnsley

Atletico Madrid to beat Porto

Liverpool to beat Milan

Manchester City to beat Leipzig

Stoke have won their opening three Championship home games and can maintain their flawless start against Barnsley, who are winless in four and were thrashed 3-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday.

There should also be comfortable home wins on the cards for European stalwarts Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, who meet Porto and Milan.

Fulham, looking to get back to winning ways after Saturday's shock 1-0 loss at Blackpool, can triumph at Birmingham to complete a 7-1 four-fold.

Manchester City v Leipzig

BT Sport 3, 8pm

Leipzig have lost three of their opening four Bundesliga fixtures, including a 4-1 thrashing by Bayern at the Red Bull Arena last weekend, and are unlikely to fare any better on their trip to last season's Champions League runners-up Manchester City.

Best bet
Manchester City -1 goal on the handicap

Liverpool v Milan

BT Sport 2, 8pm

Only Chelsea have given Liverpool a real test so far this season and it looks a tall order for Milan to take anything from a packed-out Anfield, particularly given their record of one win from 17 trips to England.

Best bet
Liverpool to win & under 3.5 goals

Bet of the day

Shakhtar Donetsk to beat Sheriff Tiraspol
BT Sport ESPN, 5.45pm

It is a huge achievement for Moldovan minnows Sheriff to make it to this point but Shakhtar may demonstrate the gulf in class. The Ukrainian side are unbeaten away from home this season, including wins on the road against Monaco and Genk in qualifying.

Goalscorer bet of the day

Club Brugge v Paris Saint-Germain BT Sport ESPN, 8pm

Away from the obvious scorers for PSG, Georgino Wijnaldum makes plenty of appeal at 9-2 with Hills to make his mark. The Dutchman should get his fair share of chances against a Club Brugge side who like to sit deep and he has already netted five times for his country this year.

Best bet
Georginio Wijnaldum to score at any time

Stat of the day

Liverpool v Milan TV BT Sport 2, 8pm

There have been no more than three goals in 18 of Liverpool’s last 20 home matches.
