Preview

Four or more goals have been scored in five of the last six meetings between Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt and there could be further entertainment on show at Borussia-Park on Wednesday.

Gladbach have had been firmly on the slide of late with a leaky defence to blame. Adi Hutter’s side have conceded at least four goals in their last three games and only Hertha Berlin and Greuther Furth have shipped more than the 28 goals the Foals have this season.

Frankfurt have struggled for consistency this term, highlighted by the fact they have beaten Bayern Munich but also lost to newly-promoted Bochum. Goals have been a regular feature of their matches with 48 scored in their 15 league outings.

The Eagles’ last two games have featured 12 strikes and more could be on the cards against an open Gladbach side.

Union Berlin and Freiburg played out a 1-1 draw in the German capital last season and another stalemate may be on the cards when they meet on Wednesday.

The pair have been surprise packages in the Bundesliga this season and are fifth and sixth in the German top flight after 15 games.

However, Union endured a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Greuther Furth on Sunday, while Freiburg conceded a last-minute winner in their defeat to Hoffenheim.

Union have been much stronger at home, taking 17 points in Berlin compared to six on the road, but Freiburg have the best defensive record in the division and the pair may cancel each other out.
