Vitoria Setubal v Tondela: Primeira Liga betting preview & free tips

A shock defeat for Porto to new boys Gil Vicente has been among the highlights of the Primeira Liga's first set of fixtures but Vitoria Setubal and Tondela seem less likely to serve up a spectacle in their opening-weekend encounter.

Tondela survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last campaign, finishing one place and three points above the drop zone, while Setubal finished only one point superior in the final standings.

The clubs won only 17 league assignments between them and their two meetings last season featured only three goals but punters should look to support the home side.

Setubal have a win under their belt already this campaign having beaten top-flight side Moreirense in their Taca de Liga second-round encounter, while Tondela were knocked out of the competition by lowly Penafiel.

The hosts, meanwhile, have added Moroccan starlet Khalid Hachadi to their ranks and have enjoyed a more successful transfer window than their opponents.

Tondela's survival in 2018-19 was in large part down to the 12 league goals from club top scorer Tomane but he has since departed for only £675,000 to Red Star Belgrade.

That leaves them short of options in the final third and their business this summer has been focused on reinforcing their rearguard, with two left-backs Joao Vigario and Filipe Ferreira brought in on frees.

Vitoria won the reverse fixture last season and look a value bet to repeat that feat on home soil in a potentially low-scoring contest.
