Match preview

Bolton have been one of the streakier sides in League One this season and it may be worth supporting them to continue their current good form against Burton.

Wanderers have taken 19 points from the last 21 available and face a Burton side who have won just one of their last six games.

Key Brewers defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson sustained a head injury in their weekend 2-2 draw with Cambridge which leaves him unlikely to play and in his absence the Burton backline will face a Trotters attack who have scored 14 goals in their last five matches.

Another form side who look likely to pick up a midweek victory are Sheffield United. The Blades were held by draw specialists Huddersfield at the weekend but have had their sights lowered against a Hull outfit who have lost three on the spin.

New manager Shota Arveladze has chopped and changed with formations and personnel since taking over at the end of January, in contrast with a settled Sheffield United side.

After a slow start to the season that saw Slavisa Jokanovic depart, the side relegated from the Premier League last season have looked much improved under new boss Paul Heckingbottom.

The Blades have games in hand over their playoff-chasing rivals and can make a bold bid for a top six finish. Heckingbottom’s men have won four of their last six games by at least a two-goal margin and are fancied to overcome a goal handicap.
