Toronto FC v Sporting Kansas City: MLS betting preview, tips & where to watch
Absentees don't give Kansas City much of a sporting chance in Toronto
TV: Sky Sports Football & Mix, midnight Friday
Injury problems coupled with a chronic dip in form make Sporting Kansas easy to oppose at Toronto.
Kansas City couldn’t take a full squad to Houston last weekend because of an injury pile-up and now they’ve got international call-ups to deal with.
Most of their crocks remain sidelined while the new wave of absentees include centre-forward Krisztian Nemeth and winger Johnny Russell, recruited by Hungary and Scotland respectively.
Those two have shared 14 goals for Sporting this season – the entire team output is only 24. Centre-back Boton Barath, a compatriot of Nemeth, will also be sorely missed.
Toronto have got their own international summons to cope with – Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley are their most significant withdrawals – but the Canadians have got the depth to overcome that.
What they don’t have is particularly good form – it’s no wins in six for Toronto who have won just one of their last six at BMO Field.
But they played well in last week’s 1-1 draw at Vancouver and while they are struggling their form is immeasurably better than Sporting’s.
The visitors have managed just one win in their last ten and haven’t kept a clean sheet in 12. Their matches average 3.5 goals per game so they aren’t dull, just too porous at the back to be trusted, especially when they are this short-handed.
