Toffees could be caned by hotshot Harry

Two of the Premier League most feared forwards go head-to-head at White Hart Lane and Tottenham hotshot Harry Kane can win his personal battle against Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

Both strikers have scored 17 times in the league this season with Kane recovering from a poor time at Euro 2016 as well as a spell out injured to give himself a decent shot of retaining the Golden Boot.

Kane is averaging a goal every 106 minutes in the Premier League this season and a home clash with any opponent outside the top six offers the England international a fair chance of obliging for anytime goalscorer backers at 11-13.

Keen followers of the nappy factor will have noticed that Kane has scored three hat-tricks in nine matches since becoming a father and this will be a tough test for Toffees centre-backs Ashley Williams and Ramiro Funes Mori.

Stopping the supply line to Kane is just as difficult as Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are such outstanding sources of creativity, while the forward also takes responsibility for free kicks and penalties.

Tottenham have been strong at home, recordng 11 wins and two draws from 13 Premier League matches with 30 goals scored and just five conceded, although Spurs supporters will no doubt ponder what might have been in terms of European ambitions had the club settled for White Hart Lane's reduced capacity rather than playing at Wembley.

Six of the last seven home league games have been won to nil and Everton's last trip to an elite club ended in a 5-0 loss at Chelsea.

The Toffees have improved since and look a better balanced side with Morgan Schneiderlin sitting in front of the defence, while there is more energy around the pitch with youngsters Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman introduced into the starting 11.

Ronald Koeman is likely to play a narrow midfield with Ross Barkley tucked in from the right and he is confident Everton won't defend as poorly as Stoke did last week when Kane scored three in the 4-0 win.

However, although they are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches and look best-placed to take seventh spot there is a clear gulf between the top six and the rest this season.

Interestingly, Everton still have away games to come at Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal this term so there are not many cheap points left for them, particularly on the road.

Lukaku will give them a puncher's chance of landing a shock but Spurs are unbeaten at White Hart Lane since May 8. The manager that day? Koeman - when he was at Southampton.

Spurs are hopeful that Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane will recover from injury. Alderweireld is thought to be most in danger of sitting on the sidelines with Danny Rose and Erik Lamela.

Yannick Bolasie is a long-term absentee. Dominic Calvert-Lewin may return to the squad and Muhamed Besic is also nearing a return.
