Stoke are in need of a confidence boost after taking just one point from five league games and they can get it at the expense of Hull in this evening’s third-round tie at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters were League Cup semi-finalists last season although their priority at the moment is Premier League points as they are marooned at the foot of the table following Sunday’s 4-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Stoke will be targeting a first league win of the season at home to West Brom on Saturday but their chances would be improved if they can lift the mood with a midweek cup victory.
