EFL clubs are getting ready for a season like no other with a winter World Cup being staged midway through the campaign and there are sure to be some clubs who benefit from the chaos and others who struggle to adapt.

The dates of the Qatar World Cup – November 21 to December 18 – have been known for a long time and the EFL has come up with a mixed response by implementing a four-week break in the Championship and pressing ahead with the usual schedules in League One and League Two.

Calls for a suspension of all EFL divisions were ignored and that looks a reasonable stance, because the vast majority of EFL players in the frame for World Cup call ups are plying their trade in the Championship.
