Sydney may not be able to grab all the glory
A-League
BT Sport 2, Friday 9.50am
Sydney FC have make a decent start to their A-League title defence with seven points on the board after three matches but they look opposable at short prices to post a home victory over sixth-placed Perth Glory.
Last season was a memorable one for Sydney who won the league at a canter, finishing with a plus 43 goal difference and a 17-point margin over second-placed Melbourne Victory in the regular season. They then beat the Victory on penalties in the Grand Final.
Head coach Graham Arnold has opted for continuity by keeping the bulk of his squad together but early-season performances have not been convincing.
Sydney had to work hard for a 3-2 success over Wellington Phoenix in their first home match and then came from 2-0 down to secure a draw at home to Western Sydney last week.
Last season's leading scorer Bobo is among the goals again, netting three in three appearances, but Sydney have appeared less secure defensively and their goals-conceded tally (four) is equal to the number shipped in the opening ten matches last term.
Perth picked up their first point of the season when Adam Taggart's injury-time goal salvaged a 2-2 draw at Newcastle Jets and they came from behind at home to Central Coast on Sunday with second-half goals from Andy Keogh and Taggart sealing a 2-1 success.
Former Fulham forward Taggart has netted three goals this season and is likely to cause problems if Sydney have not addressed their recent defensive issues.
It promises to be an entertaining, unpredictable game and there is value in backing the away side to avoid defeat.
Recommendation
Perth or draw double chance
