Match preview

Tony Pulis’s tenure as Sheffield Wednesday manager kicked off with defeat at Preston on Saturday, but it should have come as no surprise to see the 1-0 scoreline and another colourless contest looks in store as they head to Swansea.

Pulis has been renowned for being defensive throughout his managerial career and that is unlikely to change at Hillsborough given he has adopted a side lacking firepower and embroiled in a scrap for Championship survival.

Struggling Wednesday have scored only six times in 12 games and their feeble frontline may be frustrated again by a Swansea side occupying the playoff places having shown their defensive aptitude with six clean sheets in 12 outings.

The Owls, despite being restricted to ten men after just 17 minutes, were able to limit Preston to one shot on target - the only effort on goal in the game - and that defensive discipline may serve them well in south Wales.

Key stat

Under 2.5 goals has landed in each of Swansea’s last seven Championship matches.
