Sunday preview

Inter Milan v AC Milan

Premier 1, 7.45pm Sunday

The Milan derby is typically tough to call but with 20 points separating these Serie A rivals, it should be easier for punters to identify the favourites at the San Siro.

The Nerazzurri are playing their part in one of the tightest title races in recent memory with only one defeat from their opening 22 league assignments.

Resurgent Alexis Sanchez should mask the absence of suspended Lautaro Martinez and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is doing his utmost to return from injury for Inter.

But even with their skipper potentially sidelined, they can boast a superb spine of Diego Godin, Marcelo Brozovic, Christian Eriksen and Romelu Lukaku, who can sweep aside a Milan outfit languishing in mid-table with only nine league wins all campaign.

Bayern Munich v RB Leipzig

BT Sport 2, 5pm Sunday

Bayern Munich's stranglehold of the Bundesliga is under threat and Leipzig can put a dent in the Bavarians' pursuit of an eighth title in a row with a positive result at the Allianz Arena.

The market is perhaps skewed by pedigree and experience but based on this season alone, Bayern look too short given only a point separates the sides.

The visitors carry enough of a threat in 20-goal Timo Werner, handy midfielder Marcel Sabitzer and exciting January addition Dani Olmo to pierce a far from impenetrable Munich rearguard.

These sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season and the home side have shown shades of vulnerability against some of the league's big guns this term, losing to Bayer Leverkusen at home and Borussia Monchengladbach on the road.

Parma v Lazio

Premier 2, 5pm Sunday

Lazio were held to a 0-0 draw by a plucky Verona outfit last time out but deserved more from a game in which they managed 19 shots.

The positive fans can take from that match is they have extended their unbeaten run to a remarkable 17 games but they lost Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Stefan Radu through suspensions as a result.

Parma are also without key players, most notably striker Andreas Cornelius who has scored eight league goals.

Ciro Immobile is still in action for the capital club, who have made a late bid for the Serie A title and have thumped lesser lights Sampdoria and Spal in recent weeks.

Montpellier v Saint-Etienne

BT Sport 3, 2pm Sunday

The appointment of Claude Puel in October has done little to change the fortunes of a stagnating Saint-Etienne side in Ligue 1.

They have risen from 19th to 15th in the four months since the Frenchman took charge and recent results and performances have still been inconsistent.

Failure to make the most of 18 shots cost them in a 3-1 defeat to Metz and they struggled to get a foothold in their 2-0 loss to Marseille last time out.

Aside from a routine drubbing by Paris Saint-Germain, Montpellier have held their own in Ligue 1 this term, winning three of their last five league fixtures, and look worth a small bet.
