Sunday's preview

Aberdeen don’t often find themselves in the group stage of the Scottish League Cup but the Dons have been showing their superiority and they look a fantastic bet to triumph at home to Raith.

A pair of 2-0 victories over Peterhead and Dumbarton and a 5-0 hammering of Stirling have all but assured the Dons of their passage into the next stage of the competition and a win over the Rovers will seal the deal.

Jim Goodwin is looking to go on the front foot in his first full season in charge at Pittodrie and the Aberdeen gaffer is unlikely to make many changes to his side on Sunday. Forward Christian Ramirez has looked sharp this season and the American leads a strong Dons attack.

Goodwin’s men racked up 20 shots on goal at home to Dumbarton, they hit 18 at Peterhead and 14 on their trip to the Forthbank Stadium. That indicates the attacking intent of the Dons this season and they are yet to concede a goal in the competition.

Raith are a solid Championship outfit, but they are a fair way off the level of Aberdeen and that is likely to show at Pittodrie.
