1 Swindon
David Flitcroft's arrival should bring some much-needed stability to the County Ground and an instant return to Sky Bet League One is a distinct possibility. Flitcroft led Bury to promotion from this division in 2014-15 and has made a solid group of signings for a club who should be powerhouses at this level.

2 Luton
The Hatters were hard to beat last season but too many draws left them just short of the automatic-promotion places. They should be more ruthless with a strike partnership of Danny Hylton and James Collins, who scored 41 league goals between them last term, and a serious title bid is expected.

3 Mansfield
Steve Evans will have no excuses if he fails to deliver automatic promotion for the Stags. Most of the new arrivals have been playing at a higher level and, while bookmakers are taking no chances with their odds, Mansfield's squad depth and quality makes them major players in the title race.
