Team news

Sam Clucas (foot) has joined John Obi Mikel, Jordan Thompson and Joe Allen on the injured list. Danny Batth and Nick Powell will need to be assessed after suffering knocks at the weekend.

Cardiff
No fresh injuries are reported but Isaac Vassell and Jordi Osei-Tutu (both hamstring) are out.

Match preview

Cardiff gave a huge boost to their promotion hopes with an impressive 1-0 success at Watford on Saturday and can follow up with a victory over injury-hit Stoke at the bet365 Stadium.

Questions were being asked of Bluebirds boss Neil Harris when his team succumbed to a 1-0 loss at Coventry 13 days ago.

It left the Welsh side 18th – as low as they have been all season – but they have responded with a three-match winning streak, lifting them to within four points of the playoffs.

Harris's side are growing in confidence and fully deserved their victory over Watford, who boasted the best home record in the division.

Stoke are also on a good run but Saturday's 1-0 triumph at home to Middlesbrough came at a cost with three players – Sam Clucas, Danny Batth and Nick Powell – forced off with injuries.

The Potters are likely to be understrength and Cardiff are playing well enough to take advantage.

Key stat

Cardiff have won their last three matches
