QPR v Millwall 3pm Saturday

Millwall are not prepared to give up in their pursuit of a Sky Bet Championship playoff place and the hungry Lions can tee up a tense final day of the season by taking maximum points at labouring London rivals QPR.

Millwall’s promotion hopes looked to have fallen by the wayside after they recorded victory in only one of their first five matches after the season restarted, but hard-fought 1-0 wins over Hull and Blackburn have put them right back on track.

Gary Rowett knows the Lions’ fate is out of their hands but winning their final two games at least gives them a shot of catching a Cardiff side they trail by two points, and they should pass the first of those tests at Loftus Road.

Millwall have collected ten points from their last four away games, keeping a clean sheet on each occasion, and it may not take much for them to get the better of QPR, who are performing like a team desperate for the campaign to finish.

Mark Warburton’s men have lost five of their last seven league matches and have managed just three goals in that period, firing blanks in defeats to Barnsley, Charlton and Wigan - three sides who haven’t yet secured their Championship status.

QPR have lost all three of their Loftus Road assignments since the restart and the latest 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday is of particular concern.

Warburton was furious with the performance and refused to defend his players, saying: "We were off the pace, pointless in our passing and lacklustre. We got what we deserved."

Rangers followed that with a 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened Luton but they lost the expected-goals battle 1.85-0.88 and can expect a sterner test from a motivated Millwall side.

Hull City v Luton Town 3pm Saturday

The scrap for Championship survival is one thing sure to go down to the wire and this is a must-win fixture for Hull and Luton as a draw is of little benefit to either.

Hull and Luton are both in the relegation places with 45 points from their 44 matches - they trail Charlton by just two points - and victory for either at the Kcom Stadium would provide a realistic platform for the winners to stay up.

But while Luton are offering their supporters hope of pulling off a miraculous escape, Hull are doing nothing of the sort and many of their fans have written off their survival chances after Tuesday's humiliating 8-0 defeat at Wigan.

The Tigers shipped seven first-half goals in that mauling at the DW Stadium and the quick turnaround for a team so short on confidence may spell disaster.

Changes need to be made but this Hull side are lacking identity and cries to have manager Grant McCann sacked with only two games to go are not going to help their cause.

Hull have won only one of their 19 games in all competitions since early January, with nine of their last league 11 encounters resulting in defeat.

The Tigers have never recovered from the January departures of Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki, and the injury to influential midfielder Herbie Kane, who has returned to Liverpool after being ruled out for the season, has reduced their creativity further.

With that in mind, this represents an excellent opportunity for Luton, who have improved markedly since Nathan Jones was reappointed in May.

The Hatters have lost only one of their seven games since Jones returned, recording vital away wins at Swansea and Huddersfield and holding highflying Leeds to a 1-1 draw.
